Wilmington Friends coach Bob Tattersall addresses players at the fifth annual Wilmington Friends flag football clinic.

For the fifth consecutive year the Wilmington Friends football team hosted a football clinic as part of its preseason program.

Nearly 30 athletes from the Wilmington and Newark Area programs who are playing flag football this fall attended the two-hour clinic, held at the school on Aug. 20. Players participated in drills, games and activities directed by the Quakers' coaching staff and players.

"For 45 years we attended a week of preseason practice at an [offsite] camp," said head coach Bob Tattersall, who is Delaware's winningest high school football coach with 303 victories. "When we stopped attending camp, I thought we needed something special to do for others that was not directly related to football. The opportunity to coordinate with Special Olympics was perfect for our players, coaches, and parents. We are grateful for the experience."
