Get involved in our Special Events

Family involvement in our Special Events ensures that you and your family are getting the most of what Special Olympics Delaware has to offer year-round.

Along with quality sports training and athletic competition, Special Olympics Delaware also offers additional "special events and programs" for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Families Day at the Beach - It's like a community block party at the shore! This outing, usually held in September at Cape Henlopen State Park, brings together athletes, families and friends for a fun and relaxing day at the beach.  Be sure to bring a fishing pole (but if not, we'll have one for you)!

Night of Heroes - This gala event is a chance for athletes and families to celebrate and acknowledge outstanding contributions from individuals, as well as businesses and civic organizations. Come out and thank the people that make this program possible for your child.

Unified Champion Schools - This new initiative encourages students (Special Olympics athletes and their typical peers) to build bridges of respect and acceptance within their schools and communities. This is a wonderful venue for siblings of athletes to become more involved in learning about advocacy in building a more inclusive world.

Summer Camp - Special Olympics athletes are awarded a true summer camp experience, complete with traditional activities such as fishing, crabbing, kayaking, and more! Parents, siblings (ages 16 and older), or other family members are welcome to volunteer as camp staff.
