Summer Games Rain Plan

UPDATED Friday, June 7, 4:00 p.m.

Tennis is outside at the University of Delaware on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.

All outdoor field events are cancelled. (softball/tennis ball throw; turbo jav; standing long jump)

The Torch Run and Wilmington Ceremony is cancelled. The final leg of the Torch Run into the Opening Ceremony is ON SCHEDULE.

The Tennis Venue, which is at DuPont Country Club Friday, might be moved back to the University of Delaware on Saturday. Check back.

All changes previously announced below remain implemented:

Sports Venue changes

Aquatics: moves to McKean High School Friday and Saturday, schedule remains the same. Directions to McKean High School

Bocce: moves to the main arena inside the Bob Carpenter Center Friday and Saturday, games begin at 9 a.m. on Friday and original schedule remains the same for Saturday.

Powerlifting: moves to the West Gym of the Bob Carpenter Center, schedule remains the same.

Softball: postponed until Saturday, June 15. Schedule to be announced. Athletes welcome to come enjoy all of this weekend's festivities. Just check in at registration in the lobby of the Field House.

Tennis: Outside at the University of Delaware beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Track and Field: no location or schedule change.

 

Transportation changes

On Friday, a bus will take swimmers and tennis players who spent the night in the dorms from the dorms to the sports venues at the beginning of the competition and pick them up at the end and return them to the dormitories, where the transportation schedule remains the same and will shuttle athletes to the Family Barbecue and Opening Ceremony.

On Saturday, a bus will take swimmers and tennis players who spent the night in the dorms from the dorms to all sports venues at the beginning of the competition, but will NOT pick them up at the end.  

There will NOT be continuous shuttle service throughout the day to aquatics and tennis on either day.

Athletes who are not spending the night in the dorms need to provide their own transportation to and from the aquatics and tennis venues both days.

The remainder of the transportation schedule remains the same.

 

Olympic Village/Healthy Athletes changes

Events will be held in the Delaware Field House beginning at 3 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

 

Lunch changes

Lunches will be delivered to all sports venues, both onsite and offsite.

 

Family barbecue changes

Will be held inside Delaware Field House, 4 – 6:30 p.m.

 

Volunteer registration changes

Volunteers should report at their originally scheduled times.

However, all volunteers should report directly to their area/sports venue (see location changes above).

If you are helping with a task vs. at a specific area (i.e. food, safety, hospitality) please check in at the Bob Carpenter Center lobby.

 

There are no other changes to any events at this time.
