For purposes of improving our website content, aggregate information is collected on what pages of the web site are visited. We only gather personally identifiable data (such as names, addresses, zip/postal codes, e-mail addresses, etc.) that are voluntarily submitted by the visitor, and we only use such data to facilitate online donations, event registrations or for e-news delivery if requested. If you supply us with your postal address online, you may receive periodic mailings from us with information on upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, requests for financial support, or new products or services. Website visitor information is used for internal Special Olympics Delaware purposes only and will not be sold to third parties. E-mail addresses of visitors and donors are never sold or exchanged.
Information and Credit card security/ Online donations
Special Olympics Delaware has established safeguards to help protect your personal information, but cannot guarantee that your personally identifiable information will never be disclosed in a manner inconsistent with this Privacy Policy (for example, as a result of unauthorized acts by third parties that violate applicable law). All online transactions are done on a secure server. This means that information entered on the transaction page is encrypted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) before transmission. On secure pages, a “closed” lock symbol is displayed in the bottom part of your browser screen and the website address in the address bar at the top of the browser screen starts with an “https” instead of an “http”.
Secure server technology is also used throughout the online donation process. Donations for events (example: Polar Bear Plunge) are secured through authorize.net, a safe and verified payment gateway that accepts online payments.
Contributions may also be made by calling 302-831-4653. Or, if you’d prefer, mail us your contribution by printing our online donation form and mailing it to us at our mailing address. Except in the limited circumstances outlined below, Special Olympics Delaware will never intentionally share your e-mail addresses, phone numbers or financial information.
Special Olympics Delaware uses third parties to provide credit card, bank, payment and information processing services. If you choose to make a donation online, by phone, through the mail or by other means we will share your personal information with our processing service providers. We limit the information we provide to outside companies with whom we contract to only what they need to carry out their responsibilities. It is our practice to use encryption whenever we receive or transmit sensitive data.
