The World’s Largest Truck Convoy

The World’s Largest Truck Convoy® is a celebration of the trucking industry and its support of Special Olympics. It is a unique one-day celebration in which law enforcement makes special dispensation and escorts a convoy of trucks up to 30 miles through their town.

the world's largest truck convoy

Delaware's leg of the Truck Convoy, which was first held in 2003, takes place in Dover and begins and ends at Dover International Speedway. Truckers meet at the speedway and are escorted by law enforcement officers on a 13-mile route throughout Dover before returning to the speedway for a festival and celebration.

To participate, truckers donate at least $100 and complete a registration packet. All trucks entering the convoy must be of 10-GVW or larger, but please note that hazardous materials are not permitted.

The Truck Convoy was founded in 2001 by Norm Schneiderhan, a Corporal with the Orange County (FL) Sheriff’s Department. Schneiderhan, whose family is involved with the trucking industry, was inspired by the powerful impact Special Olympics has had on his life through his participation in the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Originally just a fundraiser for Special Olympics Florida, the convoy has grown into a national movement officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest truck convoy.
