Delaware Law Enforcement for Special Olympics

Delaware Law Enforcement is one of Special Olympics Delaware’s largest fundraising and public awareness vehicles, as more than 60 of Delaware's Law Enforcement agencies and more than 25 percent of the state’s police officers are actively involved in supporting the organization.
That support raised $200,000 for Special Olympics Delaware in 2006, and in its 20 years of service and support Delaware Law Enforcement has raised more than $1.9 million dollars for the organization.
This year-round effort not only encompasses the flagship 160-mile Torch Run leading up to Summer Games, but also includes officers presenting medals and ribbons at all Special Olympics competitions, managing fundraising and public awareness events - like Truck Convoy, Pigskin Pass, DSTA Golf Classic, ads solicitation for the Summer Games program and annual yearbook, and ShopRite Barbecue Days - and allowing athletes to participate in hands-on Olympic Village displays of law enforcement equipment at various Special Olympics events.
If you are member of Delaware Law Enforcement and would like to see how you or your agency can become involved in Special Olympics, please contact Ann grunert 302-831-3480 or e-mail agrunert@udel.edu.
