Motor Activities Training Program
Special Olympics Motor Activities Training Program (MATP) is designed for persons with severe intellectual disabilities who are unable to participate in official Special Olympics sport competitions because of their skill and/or functional abilities.
MATP is designed to prepare athletes with severe or profound intellectual disabilities, including athletes with significant physical disabilities, for sport-specific activities appropriate for their abilities.
A unique sport-based program, MATP is designed to provide training for athletes in skills that are related to and may lead to participation in traditional Special Olympics events.

All MATP athletes are provided opportunities to train for and perform their personal best at culminating motor development events (Challenge Days), without comparison to others.

Nearly 500 Special Olympics Delaware athletes participate in one of 15 Challenge Day events held across the state.
