The Pooch Plunge, sponsored by M&T Bank, is the newest event held during the Lewes Polar Bear Plunge Weekend Festival.
The Pooch Plunge was created to allow Pooches the opportunity to support the same great cause many of their owners do during Sunday's Plunge. It's also an opportunity for people who don't want to plunge, but think their dogs will enjoy it, to support Special Olympics Delaware.
Unlike the Sunday Bears, who traipse into the roaring waves of the Atlantic Ocean, the Pooches will splash through wading pools on the beach. They'll still experience the chilling thrill of a Plunge without the stress that would occur if hundreds of dogs pranced into the ocean at once.
2014 Date and Time TBA
Note: Visit plungede.org for more information about the Lewes Polar Bear Plunge and events during the Plunge Weekend Festival.
Registration for each Pooch is $25. Each registered Pooch receives the official Pooch Plunge dog bandanna and portable pooch bowl.
Prizes awarded for "best dressed" pooch.
Just like our Sunday Bears do, Pooches are encouraged to get their friends and their friends' owners to support their valiant plunge by creating a FirstGiving page.
In 2013, 51 dogs of all sizes and breeds participated in the inaugural Pooch Plunge.
